Diego R. Gfeller’s professional activities focus primarily on criminal law and criminal procedural law.
After completing his studies in Fribourg, Diego R. Gfeller first worked at the chair for criminal law and philosophy of law (Prof. Dr. Marcel Alexander Niggli) and then in various functions at the District Court of Horgen before he started working as a lawyer in 2013. From 2013-2019 he worked as a lawyer in a medium-sized law firm, from 2015 as partner.
Throughout his career, Diego R. Gfeller’s main interest has been in criminal law. In 2019 he founded the law firm Forum Rechtsanwälte together with Fabrizio N. Campanile.
In addition to his practical work as a lawyer, Diego R. Gfeller has always kept a foot in the academic world. He wrote his doctoral thesis on private bribery according to Art. 4a UWG. In 2017 he wrote a monography on remand in custody. He publishes regularly in professional journals on criminal law and criminal procedure and lectures at conferences and other education events.
Diego R. Gfeller is working part-time on a habilitation thesis on the topic: “Criminal defence – rights │ obligations │ limits”. The research question is: What may or must a criminal defence lawyer do or refrain from doing?
Diego R. Gfeller is registered with the Bar Register of the Canton of Zurich. He advises in German, English and French.
